That's Day One then. 29 mins - quite challenging I thought. Nothing new to any of us I'd think but I needed to concentrate. - which was good.
Am plinking the calendar here
Need large coffee after that... back soon with thoughts - and a useful athletics revelation on DAY ONE!

Mm yes. I did think that anyone not used to sitting cross legged, or not knowing how much easier it is with a block to sit on, could have backed out before day one was half started. I was fine with it but it was work coming off a couple of weeks of sessions most days.
I feel I can post here because I deliberately skipped day 30 of last year for just your reasons.

Day one done. Found it inexplicably hard in wrists and shoulders even before she had us in downward dog. Some very unyogic language. Three-legged dog v hard. Don't know why because I would have said my upper body was OK.

I found Day One hard on the wrists and was really glad of the short break from putting my weight through them.
My revelation was that although I find downward dog very easy and almost a relaxing position the opposite follows for planks, cat-cow - anything requiring wrists directly under shoulders with your weight forwards rather than back.
For me personally - long hamstrings, flexible hips - I get my feet down flat with ease but for someone so bendy my wrists are very tight and it's only recently I've recognised this. It's the main reason I can't do a backward roll (or crab) using my hands for assistance.
I think I've been 'cheating' with my table top positions because I naturally adjust my arms to a slight angle. This is EXACTLY what happens to me in the starting blocks. If you read my blogs (AL and Linds) you will know what I am going about.
Today I really tried to get my arms straight down shoulders to wrists and found it tiring. But am sure this will be really useful for me. In the absence of a coach/ teacher whatevs I am going to use a mirror to make sure I am getting this right.
I can't rely on proprioception on this one - my default is too ingrained.

Will add that table top should mean weight evenly distributed - or it would be a wonky donkey table - but what I wrote still holds.

I found the wrist stretching easier this time than last year when I remember being shocked at how tight my right wrist was in particular. I've worked on those hands backwards positions a bit since.
I enjoyed today - it was quite challenging but I thought the cues were good and I liked focussing on just a few positions. I remember well the first time I started a 30 day journey and being horrified at how hard I found it to sit cross-legged! I do now use blocks if I think I'm likely to be there for a while!

That’s really useful AL, you’re saying working on the tightness helped? There’s hope for my wrists yet!
