Going to give it a go but reckon I may fall short. Can’t start running till mid jan as per physio instructions and a late November marathon that will reduce mileage at the end of the year. Have to hope for a injury free marathon build up to bump up the miles

Can I play? I targeted 1750 miles last year but finished on 2409 so it would be nice to get to 2500 this year. I’m training for my first ultra - Hardwolds 40 - in June so having a goal that goes beyond that could be useful.

Other races booked - Snake Lane in February and Boston Marathon (UK) in April.

I'm not sure which to opt for this year. Last year was 3000 mi but for me that tends to push out the quality. This year I want to cut back the distance a bit and do a bit more speedwork, which seems all the more important now I'm well into my 60s and losing a lot of pace in the last couple of years. For now I'll put myself in the 2500 table.

Nice to have you here Doc, you're always welcome!

NSR, I know what you mean about wanting to get back some speed! I have put in 2000 miles as a target but I really want to get faster. I am targeting 5K/10K races to try and get the speed back.

So by my reckoning, to hit 2500 this year I need to be on 130 miles today to be on track (taking a linear route). I'm 5 miles ahead :-) How's everyone else doing?

I have tentatively stuck 2250 miles in for my annual target this year. I am currently on 137 (and am due an 11-miler today), and today's break-even is 117, so I am currently ahead! I think after January last year though, I was never ahead of the 2021 target for the rest of the year, following a fall/concussion, and I never clawed the mileage back. If I can be consistent I have a chance.....famous last words, I know!

I failed miserably last year thanks to various injuries, and I am already a few miles behind target, but hoping to hit 2500 miles / 4000-ish km this year...

Pegg -If you go to fetcheveryone.com/training-targets.php it will show you the breakeven point and if you are +- it at the moment. Says you are 9km up on todays target to me.
