I just managed to push through my stretch goal to 5006 km today. It's my highest mileage year and probably my slowest average speed as age takes its toll. In fact, I think I have shown myself that quantity does not offset ageing and there will have to be more higher intensity next year. The less I do of that the less I feel like doing.

Mr. Grumpy
That’s some going NSR! And I know from another thread that some of that’s also on icy terrain. Well done!

I did a marathon this morning, but I had a shocker today, and just couldn’t get the legs going later into the event. I’ll blame the rich food over the last few days!
But that’s 2000 for the year so 21 short of target. I had a poor February due to a fall, and then covid in October made me have to take it a bit easier for 2 or 3 weeks or so.
Also, just over 4000 miles on the bike, the vast majority of which was on Zwift. I’d have to check, but I think the absolute maximum I’ve done before is about 500, but mainly it’s zero a year on the bike. This has been a big change for me this year.
Happy new year, all.

Didn’t make 1500 and mixture of lack of mojo in feb early March and injuries nov/dec put paid to any hopes of making 2000. Lowest full year mileage since I started running again in 2018. Still injured and not planning on restarting running until second week in jan 22 but hopefully get closer to 2000 in 2022. We’ll done all those who got there

Welcome to 2022 everybody! I’ve changed the thread title, so who's in for another year of running 2000+ miles?
Let us know your goals and target races for the sidebar. I’ll update the links over there -> when I get a mo.

I’m continuing to increase volume, not yet finalised goals and target races , there will be quite a few though and it’ll be progressive. PB’s for new distances with race completion are on the cards .

I’ve set my target at 2,000!
I would like to keep my streak going if possible!
I also have an unofficial 52 in 52 I would like to keep going till my 52nd birthday although even if I can’t run (I’m going to be having cancer treatment over the next few weeks) I will walk!
I’ve already got a few local races coming up probably not planning on targeting any pbs just yet, I just want to keep moving if I can!

Count me in CW. Target races so far are Manchester Marathon, and Great Manchester Run HM, where I’m aiming for PB’s and 70% WAVA. The marathon might seem like Pie in the Sky with where my PB currently is, but I’ve never gone into one after a proper training block, so I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility without any major disruptions.
Also hoping to go sub-40 for 10k, and to see how fast I can get over 5k after a promising first bash a few weeks ago.
Good luck and best wishes to you all for your targets for this year!

I am in Hoping to get into 100 Marathon Club in early May and have a few marathons before that (I am currently on 94), with Manchester planned for my 99th. A being well, I'd love to be in decent shape for Manchester and have a crack at a PB, but we shall see, and then it's on to Dartmoor Discovery in June. Main hope is just to be consistent over the full 12 months, so we shall see how that goes!
