Gobi – it’s 2 April.
I’ve had 4 out of the last 5 weeks were my mileage has been less than 30 miles (for most of last year it was 35-40 when not marathon training, and 45-55 when marathon training). Between Christmas, general run-down-ness etc, not done a long run over 13 miles in the last 3 weeks. Last time I did 4 20 milers and 1 22 – think I could still just about manage to fit that number in. Last time I had 18 weeks pretty much solid training, apart from two separate weeks where I was thrown off tracks with cough cold.
This time I was planning to follow an 18-week plan again, but it hasn’t really happened, so with a planned long run of about 16 miles this week, I’m pretty much going to be going off 12 weeks.
Not doing it unfortunately not really an option as we’ve paid for train tickets and accommodation, but I’m thinking it may be worth just being more conservative in terms of pace.

April is a long way off
If you can train solidly now until mid march building carefully then running it will be no problem.
Pace will be key, simple solution would be to run a half around end of Feb (just before taper) and set MP off that data

Thanks for the advice Gobi - I've got a half the first Sunday in March (same length of time out I did a half last time) so I will use that to set MP

*chuckles* at FR's comment. Good luck jenny. Gobi's right though. I followed a pacer on my first marathon...at one point, he buggered off to use the portaloo and eventually caught up with us again (was 5 hrs, so he could easily catch us lot). Unfortunately I lost him when the half marathon folks flooded onto the course and then hit the wall around 18 miles.
