carolyn_t, the Grizzly definitely had less off-road than Larmer. In fact there was very little tarmac in the Larmer; a couple of road crossings and one short stretch of, at most, a few hundred metres. The rest was on farm tracks (gravel/shale/mud) and footpaths (more mud). The total elevation change between the two is similar.

Oh bugger, my ultra at the end of this month has been cancelled, for the bizarre reason that the organiser is apparently stuck in China with a visa problem.

Will have to do the final winter league 5 mile road race instead. I'd much rather plod for 40 miles than try to do proper speedy running for 5!

Thanks, Tom, but I really can't do off-road stuff, it wrecks my legs. The main advantage of the ultra that's been cancelled, was that it was on cycle paths, so much less mud. Anyway, I've got a road ultra coming up at the end of April, so at least I've still got that to look forward to!

Mrs Jigs, when you've got a little minute, please could you take off the 25th March Ultra from over there --->, and add the Connemarathon, for 23rd April? Ta!

Thanks Westmoors!
Jabberknit, how frustrating for you but at least you have the Connemarathon to look forward to.

Sorry to hear about your DNF, carolyn_t - sensible to pull out if you've got problems, you don't want to make anything worse.

Hills tonight. Nothing like Westmoor's hills but quite something for Cambridge.

Jono.
read your blog Gobi - wouldn't hurt to post that in a fetch blog :-)

cycled 8 miles, slight twinge in the Achilles this morning, a timely reminder that all is not well - next 10k will be at the end of the week.

have a good day
