A solo frost free forest run this morning of 4.64 miles (8k); first mile easy pace and increasing mile by mile. Average hr 132 max 148bpm. Felt better than for some time, and actually getting up to 5.25k pace I've been struggling to get sub 6k for a while, so very pleased. Increasing weekly mileage seems to be paying off 😀

that is brilliant news Steve, worth waiting for. Look forward to seeing the miles clock up. Glad you're home safe and running again LL, hope all is ok. Lesley, you have a very busy life, 2 runs is great and hopefully you get out at the weekend. Sounds like a great run hs. I blogged yesterday about taking the pressure off myself, that running is there for me not anything in particular, I have taken my stretch target of 1500 back to 1200 as I would like to do 100 each month. I dont have to keep up with people who are more committed/more able to do the big stuff than myself. I need to get myself in a good place with the new job. I feel better now I have this mindset in place. That said after today's run I've done 30 this week and hardly broke a sweat! |

Thanks everyone! That increased mileage is paying off there hs, a great 8k (Arghhh to the 4.64miles though!!). What a wise revision gg to put an emphasis on yourself, you won't regret it. One can't always chase things when there are other life things to be involved with so a personal balance is imperative. Well done on a thirty week. You can imagine what it's like when the most significant person in one's life (ie for me, my wife) is churning out high miles all the bloody time! Today was to be a restart but a 4am call about my brother in law passing away obviously changed plans. |

Oh no Steve sorry to hear your sad news. Best Wishes to you and the family. I ran a tough parkrun this morning and had to walk quite a bit as my fitness has dropped off since my holiday. I understand GG I have been too target driven in the past and it can spoil the enjoyment. Really we are all just out to keep healthy. Hoping to get out for a longer one tomorrow. |

Condolences to you and all concerned Steve. Sorry for my absence recently, I have been reading but not posting I don't seem to have been in the right head space to post comments. I'm getting over a cold that came on on Tuesday afternoon and it's left me chesty and full of phlegm. That said, I was a pacer at parkrun this morning and came in 1 second over my time of 25 minutes. Running felt fine which surprised me but it wasn't too cold this morning to affect my breathing. Good luck, best wishes, get well soon, well done and any other comment I should have posted but haven't. |

I think I'm fine LL thanks but just not had the right words to post anything helpful or positive recently. I do hope you're over your fall and enjoyed the holiday overall, your fitness will return with a little bit of time and effort.

Thanks all. It's good just to read how many miles you've done FF. And what a great park run you put in. Obviously my fitness has dramatically fallen lately and this mornings mere 2.5 miles was still very hard going. I'll be trying over the coming weeks to get back some fitness but if for any reason I don't/can't then I'll plod on and enjoy. I suppose I find having a plan more comfortable than a target and when I'm doing well a target becomes part of it. At the moment my plan doesn't put me in touching distance of 1000 miles so I'll enjoy my plan! |
