10.22km this morning to work. Went the alternative way through the park. It was an enjoyable way to start the week. Hope the weather gods were not too cruel yesterday, Donnie. |

That's a great start to the week Jack FW. Nice to be able to run to work, I'm guessing you have changing facilities there! You're doing fine gg, didn't realise you were doing Meriden as a group effort. There are pros and cons in doing it like that; your experience and tenacity will be an added bonus as you run into the night. A dry practically calm morning here, just 3.2 miles on roads before it got light. Didn't enjoy it today even though I was with my wife and I felt decidedly grumpy from the off!🥴 |

For us it rained all morning, was nice all afternoon (a little breezy but nothing major) and really strong winds last night. Calm again this morning. The west coast had it worse than us. Going to attempt a run tomorrow. I tail walked at Parkrun on Saturday, it was a glorious day. 96 parkruns done. |

that looks like a fabulous place to parkrun Lesley, well done on your volunteering The added issue as a team is if I feel I can't keep up through distinct lack of training, Berkeley was my big training run for this and of course I got covid just before it - I will always be the cheerleader and throw my plans for others but hate it if I am holding people up. But the conversations so far have been we're in it together and we all know that we have highs & lows at different times. Very invested in the World Championship Backyard Ultra and watching UK team in background of working. They are now out on yard 46, aka 46hrs of running in circles. Madness. I did suggest yesterday we maybe need to utilise the BYU mentality of a 5min break every hour to refuel / rest and repeat. |

Thank you everyone for your kind and supportive comments about my Yorkshire marathon. Bit of context - I'm a 58 year old jogger, yesterday was marathon number 11 so have some experience but I'm very much a jogger. PB was (and still is) 3 hr 47. Happy after yesterday although it was my slowest marathon time. Round in 4 hrs 7. Conditions were rough but the forecast was so bleak, the reality felt fine! Some really heavy periods of driving rain which came in the middle of the run and constantly strong winds (45 mph south easterly) although lots of the course was on country roads and surprisingly sheltered by high hedges. If anyone knows the courses (I think Lesley might have run it) the only really exposed part was from miles 15 to 20 which is an 'out and back' section which is probably coincided with the toughest part of the weather conditions. Run at a very even pace, my 10k splits were 1st 10k 59.44 2nd 10k 58.30 3nd 10k 57.50 4th 10k 58.24 slight negative split overall of 2:45 Perhaps I could have pushed more but I was never going under 4 hrs given lack of long runs and few niggles. To be honest I was thinking 4:15 so delighted with 4:07 I'd recommend the event. Big enough to feel like an event but small enough so you can park near by! Well organized although the 'base' at York Uni does get congested. Had the email with a discounted rate for next year - i'll probably be back. This video from the local press shows the wind strength - look at the trees! yorkpress.co.uk Steve: thanks for the tip about a water proof which I did wear. There must have been some very cold slower runners - the majority were definitely under dressed. |

Despite the awful weather and being undertrained for the distance I think it sounds like you ran a good race for being a PW @Donnie1, well done.

Fantastic run Donnie. I was thinking of you yesterday running in that weather. I've ran it before 2016 I think and hated that out and back section. Preferred the high hedge country section although it's quite a lonely marathon. I hope everyone's well. I'm plodding along as usual. |
