Yes HS, conkers was a regular autumn sport for us. I seem to recollect my brother putting some in the oven, though I think over-cooking would make them brittle. Another trick was keeping some from the previous year.

Becoming a swimming teacher sounds great EPix. I think you show some real tenacity running to and from work too.
Yeah, baking conkers was a thing here in those old days Evangel. I think soaking them in vinegar was done too but I'm sure nothing done to the conkers made any difference.
What a wonderful September morning! 5.6 miles along trails with must hanging low over fields and parts of the river. A much better effort than yesterday but sadly nothing like the proper training everyone here is doing. I think I keep a green tick for a few early days of the month!

Steve as an ex school teacher and triathlete swimming teaching sounds ideal! Plus most lessons are afternoons!

And I get free gym!
I all but pass the gym on the way to work now so I can still run commute 😁

You are an early starter EP. I gey up every morning at 6am, but don't run until about 8.30am.

An ex school teacher and triathlete, and shortly to become a swimming teacher, you must be super fit. A free gym pass is a super bonus.

Evangel, I hadn't thought about keeping conkers until the following year.

Well done Steve for your 5.6 miles on trails this morning. The weather was ideal here too.

I improved this mornings parkrun by about 20 seconds over last weeks. I had aimed for 28.30 and according to strava ran 28.27, so am pleased with that.πŸ˜€

Well done Steve on your trail run this morning πŸ‘πŸ‘

I ran/walked the Lakeland trails 10k at Derwentwater this morning. It was tough in the heat but I enjoyed bombing down the hills. It’s given me a 10k PB but as is typical with the Lakeland trails, it’s not a true 10k, some are longer, some like this one was a little short but seeing as I only do 10ks in the Lakeland series I’m taking it πŸ˜‚

I'm sure that you soon will be super fit EP.

Your 10k this morning on the Lakeland trails at Derwentwater sound ideallic. I do most of my training runs in the New Forest, but have been doing more on roads recently, as the clubs Solent Half Marathon is all on roads.

11 miles this morning for me, including Parkrun. Trying running to heart rate and keeping it low - this is hard and I ended up with a 34 minute Parkrun time (did not like that). It was pretty warm out there today. Position 62 on my 62nd Parkrun, wasn't intended.

Well done on your Parkrun HS, your morning miles Steve and your 10k race Jaks.

That sounds fab Pix, hope it all goes well.

Not really Lesley, but I usually look at them after the run.
