Good morning all, some great running as always has been going on. I've been reading but not posting.
Get well soon Peter.
I went out this morning and did 5.2 miles which I enjoyed and that's my first run in 9 days.

A fine training period you've done Mr HSc! Perfect timing for tapering, looking good for the marathon.
No head torch Jack!!?! Absolutely no need where there are city lights, I only use mine on trails but it's great fun then and a different experience.
Glad you're feeling ok again Lesley, sounds like a nice run in the forest.
Angry creatures are not to be contended with LL. Having said that I only know of one person who runs who was attacked by a dog and that was thirty odd years ago. Personally I'd keep well away from cows and even horses . Pigs too! Good job our wildlife isn't as rich with larger animals as it is in other parts of the world!
Top marks to Farmer hs!
Just over five miles this morning leaving the house when it's dark and just light enough on trails by the time we got there.

Impressive mileage MrHSc, you should do well in your marathon.

Well done Steve for this mornings 5+ miles.

I was attacked a few years ago by one of a ladies 4 dogs, none of which were on leads. I can remember that I was bleeding badly from both legs. I've never been down that trail since. I think that I've mentioned before that during a social run, two of us were a short way behind the others when about a dozen white cows started charging towards us. Miraculously, they swerved round us, leaving us very relieved.

The pigs are out now, so hoping there won't be any at the parkrun. I spelt the official word incorrectly the other day, it should be Pannage.

Urgh! Dogs scare me too! Got bitten while running recently which confirmed that I was right to be scared!

Lots of dogs over here in Spain - I had two follow me as I walked through their village in the dark this morning. I felt a little more confident as I had walking poles with me.

Fenland Flier, there’s nothing better than an enjoyable run (no matter the distance, duration or speed). It’s why we carry on with this caper.

I’m looking forward to a 2 week taper period, MrHsC. I have one more long run next weekend. Can’t wait until it is ticked off!

Today was tough. I paced myself really well (basically sat on 5:40 kms for 30km) but the last 5km was against a stiff wind and I lost an extra two seconds (per km overall) which was frustrating but I just couldn’t go any faster. 34km done and dusted.

Enjoy your weekend running!

What an incredible week's walking you've done Mrsb. A lot of miles on those feet and legs. Yeah, poles seem an ideal defence against an irate hound!
Good to see you've been out again FF. Is there a pattern that you can see in relation to the ups and downs you've had?
Enjoyable runs are key to continuing JackFW but I have to say that thanks to COVID my runs over the last three years or so have seldom been as enjoyable as I recall prior to that! Good running there but heck, I wouldn't be too concerned about two seconds when your target is a marathon.
Just over 5k this morning was certainly not enjoyable and I only gave myself 4/10 for it overall. It'll be better tomorrow.

Well done JackFW for your 30k today, mainly at 5.40k pace, and 34k overall.

Well done Steve for this mornings 5k, which was not as enjoyable as you had hoped. Hopefully a more enjoyable run/walk tomorrow.

This morning we ran in the Brockenhurst parkrun in Wilverley Inclosure. There were 153 runners and I came 96th, 1st AG 75-80 out of 3. The finisher behind me was 1st F AG 70-75. She said that she had been trying hard to catch me.

It was quite a day travelling to and from the run. The pigs were out although we didn't see any, the annual pony round up was in an area that we drove through, and on the way back, we had to contend with the hundreds of cyclists partaking in one of the regular New Forest races. Very dodgy on the narrow forest roads, with donkeys and ponies grazing along the grass verges.

Mr hsc and jack: do both seem good to go with your marathons. I thought we were all underway on the same day however I think I've got that wrong. I'm in the Yorkshire marathon 19th Oct, 4 weeks from today. I suspect your both running slightly sooner.

I'm really unsure where I am with my marathon prep. Not injured but not 'right' something going on in my right foot. Still running but not freely. For the last couple of nights I've woken with cramp in my right calf. Stretching feels the most likely quick solution. I'm slower and slightly lower in mileage than in previous years but stamina feels fine. I just can't go any quicker. My 20 mile dress hearsal is next weekend which will tell me a lot.

Currently on holiday, a self drive boating holiday in northern France. Good for a tea time run along the tow path but they'll be time limited.

Two runs to add 5.5 and 5.3 both during the holiday.
