Ah ok.

Also today did a race and upped my FTP by 8 points, so my FTP was obviously lagging! Managed to stay with the main peloton in the race for 13/20km, formed a second peloton and outsprinted all but one of them for the line (and it was a photo for the last one), so it's having some effect I'd say.

On the less specific Zwift trials they did before, I was a rouleur - which I think is correct. I can sprint a bit, I'm strong on fairly moderate hills, big hills kill me, as does long distance.

I wonder if they’ve possibly turned ERG off on those bits Chris, because they want to see what those who are going for a pro contract can actually do? I don’t know.

In terms of gauging effort, on Zwift website (not sure if it’s in the app) you can see what your power numbers are for a wide range of efforts (30sec, 5mins etc). For the 8mins I just went around/above FTP as I think that was the point of the session, to do that when fatigued.

But yes, an ‘all out’ for 2-mins is silly and the wording was misleading. All out, to me, means an eyeballs out sprint for 10 or 15secs. 2-mins needs to be done within the realms of what is possible!

At the end of one of them it asked something like ‘did you manage to ride at your FTP?’ (I’m paraphrasing). I was sat there thinking ‘you tell me, as you’ve got all my data!’. IE, the prompts don’t change with what the rider actually does.

But having said all that, I’m enjoying it so far.

Does anyone have a view on if the current Black Friday deal for a Wattbike is reasonable? I’ve not been keeping an eye on prices. It comes with a Zwift trial and the Wattbike Hub, which I’m not bothered about, but it’s just over £2K. Is that a genuine deal, or not, does anyone know?

(Sorry, previous comment about the pro contract and ERG being turned off isn’t valid on the shorter workouts. But I was wondering that about the longer workouts).

There is a test protocol that pretty much does this. It's 3mins long and starts with you going all out sprint and then hanging on as much as you can.

It's supposed to give a really good picture of your capacities above threshold (and by clever reading a good indication of threshold), but isn't often done because it's frankly hideous and needs someone there to catch you at the end!

MM, in this case, if my memory serves me correctly, it wasn’t at the end of the workout, so I don’t really think Zwift meant exactly what was written.

ZA3 done. I found it a bit more manageable than the the last one and I also found the guidance a bit clearer. ALL OUT!!
