Just used a dummy file to test things out - turns out that not sync'ing to strava and garmin may be the best option, because if you upload the .fit file manually just to garmin it then pushes across all of the usual output locations (including here and runalyze). So a one-stop-shop at Garmin Connect.

If you use more than Garmin Connect, strava Zwift and Fetch then that might be your best option larkim. But I only use the above four; Zwift sends directly to GC and strava and then weekly/every couple of days (depending how often I am using Zwift at the time) I download the FIT file(s) from Zwift and load them up here.

Larks - you always seem to end up with 1 manual upload somewhere.

The only manual update I do is to fetch :-)

Yep, maybe it's those ones like runalyze which I use in addition to the usual suspects that mean I want to avoid two separate manual uploads.

I like to keep all systems in sync at all times so would tend to upload straight after an activity.

Do you just upload to each individual one as you see fit?
...I download the fit file from strava.

It's probably just as straightforward to download the FIT direct from Zwift feed zwift.com where you can also download a screenshot to add to your activity should you wish, e.g. fetcheveryone.com/t-22042663

[Weirdly, I've had two Zwift rides that automatically popped up on Fetch in the past week. I'm not sure what I did to those that was different.]

Any zwift runners in here? I've treated myself to a treadmill and don't want to bore the 3:15 thread with techy queries!

larkim
What treadmill have you bought, if you don't mind me asking?

Horizon 7.0AT from Fitness Superstore fitness-superstore.co.uk though it's gone up by £100 since I bought it. Still a fair whack cheaper there than at other places though. Think it's a few years old as a model (2018 maybe?) but feels pretty robust. Goes faster than I'd need and the motor looks decent enough.

Got a bit lost in reviews as usual; those with a lot of experience and expertise probably have a higher standard expected for a machine to be used for 8min/miling running so a lot of reviews for ones that looked a decent price / vfm combo for me were being reviewed as "great for walking and some light jogging" - I'd never even considered that someone would buy a treadmill for walking on! So I suspect someone writing in "Treadmills Monthly" might suggest I spend another £400-500 to get something even more robust, but I guess it's a bit like buying a road bike - most people most of the time will get along fine with an £800 bike with Sora and rim brakes, but "Road Bikes Monthly" will still say that £1400 with a 105 groupset and discs should be the base expectations.

Timely posts this week larkim as this arrived at my place on Wednesday https://www.sweatband.com/collections/treadmills/products/xterra-trx4500-folding-treadmill#

As it also apparently connects directly to Zwift I was having similar data transfer thoughts, so thanks for raising on my behalf 😉

I've used Zwift for sporadically turbo'ing on and off for a number of years and have tended to let Connect and strava self-populate before pulling the original Zwift .fit file into here. I'll probably continue to do the same but I'm just seeing how the 'Treadmill' (+calibration) and the 'Virtual Run' activity profile settings on my Fenix 6 Pro compare first .....

That was my journey too, trying the Garmin option first as it is easy and the workflow is simple - what I liked about the zwift option instead was that it guarantees that the treadmill pace and the .fit file pace are actually the same, even though I've got a watch on my wrist which ought to do things correctly for me.

Wonder if the autoincline option from the QZ Domyos app would also work with yours? Not really necessary to be honest, but the geek in me quite likes the idea of it!

Tech update; all now working.

Had a few false starts as the treadmill needed it's firmware and bluetooth system updating (now there's a modern turn of phrase!) but now running on Zwift with my treadmill reacts to the changes in incline as they happen. Which, as it turns out, makes running on a treadmill a lot harder unless you respond to the change in elevation with a reduction in speed (when it ramped up to 15% last night I was pretty close to hitting the buttons to reduce speed, but I powered on through it, making a mockery of the "easy run" I really should have been doing).

It's a little odd how it all works:-
- I create a run "meetup" on Zwift with a dummy "friend" to start imminently (I need to start running within 30 minutes of that meetup starting - so I set it for 7:45pm if I'm likely to start running about 8pm)
- treadmill pairs with my phone into the "QZ Domyos" app
- I then fire up Zwift on the laptop and choose to do a "ride", selecting my phone as the power / controllable source
- providing my meetup has started, I then switch from the ride into the meetup and it all works with Zwift receiving speed from my treadmill via the phone, and my treadmill getting the inclination set depending on the bit of the route that I'm running via my phone.

The "ride first" thing apparently is due to a limitation in Zwift that it only sends control requests to "rides", but swapping into a meetup in the same session "fools" zwift into leaving that controllable behaviour still switched on. It sounds a faff, but in reality it only adds about 30s of fiddling to get it working. I believe in theory it can all be run from the same PC, but it's simple enough to have the phone to hand.

The app has been developed by an Italian speaker, so sometimes the translation into English isn't strong, but the developer is very supportive. He's developed some clever stuff too which I've not yet tested which would monitor heart rate and cause the treadmill speed to slow down as heart rate rises which would then solve the issue of having to nail it up a Zwift ramp if I just leave the pace the same.

The app I think was mainly written to support smart trainer bikes that aren't directly supported by zwift (and peloton too) so might be of interest to others.

facebook.com is a link to the group where there's more info.

I asked about your model Weath and he suggested contacting them via the group to see if it is / could be supported. I think it depends on how the treadmill communicates (if at all) via bluetooth, and whether it is set up for two way traffic. I just got lucky with my pick, when I bought it I never really thought about how / whether I'd use it with Zwift.
