Yes, it uses Bluetooth FTMP which is a specific fitness machine data transfer thing that zwift uses. Gave it a try out tonight and it was mega consistent for pace that eventually made it to Strava. Will need to force it over to here but can live with that
Incline is not transmitted though and it seemed like I couldn't use a programmed workout on the treadmill whilst it was hooked up like that. And it's not two way, so a programmed zwift session doesn't cause the treadmill to speed up or slow down (presumably for safety reasons) so you still need to do that manually.
Good feature though, got lucky that it was built into mine.

I assume there remains no good option for getting the .fit files pushed across to here without a manual upload? Direct upload to Connect and the orange place happens, but then it doesn't feed across to here (or other places that Garmin normally pushes to)?
Anyway, it certainly solves any un-evenness of lap paces if the treadmill is set to a single pace throughout the activity (with first lap as the belt got up to speed etc) which is basically what I wanted to achieve - device was reporting 8m34 pace, Zwift recorded 8m37 pace with the device set at 7.0mph which is good enough for me.

Sorry for busily spamming here - but just spotted that there is something of an intermediary app developed which looks like it controls the incline of your treadmill to match the zwift route you're on. That would be pretty nice to have; will explore further!!

Just put in a feature request to see if the "use watch" setting for elevation data can be over-ridden, as the activity I did yesterday held the treadmill elevation in the .fit file (and on other services, like runalyze, I can see it) whereas obviously here it gets over-written with the generalised "zwift is flat" assumption. Being able to toggle the original data back "on" would be quite nice (though might be mega complex in the backend!)

Love a bit of tech! And the more I invest in that the more I'm likely to use it. I really should be leaving it alone at the moment as it's not birthday time for a few weeks yet, but every evening I get home I just feel I want to test out "one more thing"!

Someone remind me, what's the ideal way to get .fit data into here? I assume I'm not the only one with a Garmin Connect account, strava Fetch and a couple of others. Normally activities get pushed from GC across all of them - is it best to not let Zwift auto-upload to either GC or strava and then just upload the .fit file to GC and get it pushed everywhere else?

Do you just upload to each individual one as you see fit?

Have everything linked as best I can but have to load stuff I do on zwift up to fetch manually.
I download the fit file from strava.
