Bamber - it is a very fast loop, I think even in smaller events it will be quick. I spent.most of my 2nd lap in a small group and we were still doing 45 /50kmh!

I do like a lot of the suggestions on that blog, hopefully they pay attention and focus there now they have the extra cash and time to do so.

Just signed up for a supposedly easy (est av 1.2 - 1.5 w/kg), flat event tomorrow afternoon with the hopes that my extra weight on most folk will make it easy enough for me to pootle along for the hour without getting too sweaty as I can average around 120-130 watts before the fan isn't enough to keep me cool.

Is there anything I should know about events before I do one? How do I join when in the game? Will it just be an option as I start it up like routes and workouts are normally?

Sign up to event now. Log in. On day arrive 10 min early to sort tech faff. It may say ‘join event’ if it doesn’t at 5 min to go I normally join the same route in possible or any route and then it normally asks me I want to join event now or wait. You be on a turbo until start. You only see nearest 100 riders.

Just did the Etape stage 2. It took me over 2h but kept my HR quite low. Felt ok.

Signed up for the women’s event, so there wasn’t quite as much chaos as the other ones I suspect (only 200 riders) but at times I was 2 min behind the person ahead and next person 2 mins behind me.

Still I did a couple of overtakes towards the end of lap 1 and in lap two, so hare and tortoise and all that!

Did anyone notice the looming limestone monster in the distance whilst doing stage 2? Also appeared on the profile display for some of the course.
