I went out and did that loop today. It’s as good as I remember and because we have June bursting out all over it was covered in beautiful wild flowers and Lime green growth on the trees

I’m still finding the first three miles challenging but had a good chat with my neighbour first thing about not being so hard on yourself and getting out there and building your base.

I also remember Northerns smart words about run/stomp from last year. So that’s what I did and the first long run in June was completing 7 miles

I’m going to keep working on the run / stomp ratio too. I find counting and mis counting very useful to kick me out of that phase where negative head can start to make you wonder why you try

We have also thought up something by way of a race souvenir and am checking it out with Lord Fetch first.. all will be revealed

A question for you. Do you each know if Swittle ever called you anything that stuck

Northerns the ballerina of the bog and I think mine may be the ragged rascal or Maiden of the moor. What would yours be?

Thought about him in todays formally first long run training for our trundle in September

Well this week was zooooooooooooooooooom!

How’s it Saturday?!

I see we’ve almost sold out already for places….. and a new sponsor. How exciting is that! It’s cool that Timothy Taylor’s is the official sponsor now esp as we’ve mostly always used The Fleece as our after race base. Nice one

This weeks been low on the training due to work mix however I did have a nice beach warm up yesterday. Today I’ve fixed my head on 8 miles. I’ve a warm up to do setting up the row club hut ready for the village regatta day sadly not rowing in the race into the village which would have been ace. But not picked for the team today. Instead I will be dishing out tea and coffee and cake as a warm down after the long run

I hope your all doing ok and training is moving forwards xx

My training has been a bit pants this week, but loving to hear about Timothy Taylor's sponsorship as my parents worked for their family at their 'big' house near Knaresborough (we lived in a tied cottage). Lovely people.

I got back on it today. Run walk down by the river. Another couple of weeks of that and I'll turn up the distance.

Nice work all of you. I had a painful weekend. A migraine stopped long run chances so I relied on the gig row and very amusing but ill fated regatta canoe race to add to my training. My first ever DNF!

3 women in a Canadian canoe “fail”. Very funny. Will tell all when we need a chuckle lift in the middle of Yorky

I like that motto XB. Keep the moving parts moving is good

Dusting down the thread!

How are you all doing?

Northern reminded me the other day we’ve got 7 glourious weeks to go till Yorky

I must say my training has been hit and miss however it is what it is and my knee seems to be happier with this years mix of runs and rows.

We’ve got a clear window for a few weeks so myself and Rascal 3 are focusing on longer runs. One at the weekend and fingers crossed one 5/6 in the week and then ad hoc around those

Be nice to catch up with you all and see how your doing

Oh and that Northern rascal and I have made a plan for bucket hats. For the course or for the end with a fetch logo and a Swittle motto. Let us know if you’d like one. Has the approval of Lord Fetch himself

Count me in, FRU.
I'm happily jogging 6 miles now at a nice slow pace. There have been a few speedy 5ks too. I just need to increase the distance but that'll have to wait a week or two.

Amazing! I really love the idea of all being back on the route with all of you. We can make it a celebration trundle 🙌❤️

About This Thread

Maintained by FRU (KeepTheFaith)
I’m glad to know we have some of the previous runners back for this event this yet and of course mine and Northerns annual pilgrimage and meet with those of you who are coming along. Be great to see all of you. New and old faces.

There will be a very special reason to attend this year and do a start mile and end mile with Swittle in mind

Derby Tup, Northern and I plus XB and Kev Scone all want to do a something for Swittle

Last year we invented the “Rascals” named after Howarth fat rascals and also used by Swittle with his “around the rugged moors the ragged rascals ran”
