TMW - I've got emails this morning from someone who was working at 9pm last night. FFS.

our managers have been doing stupid hours

My boss says nothing has been said officially re returning to the office but his gut feeling is no return until we are all vaccinated so September+ if that's the case

It is the lack of banter

I work upstairs in "the office"
Husband does shifts so is either at work, asleep (like now!) or downstairs trying to to disturb me so I am alone really

I used to occasionally get annoyed with the "kids" (half the team are low 20s) yabbering on about stuff but now it's not there I miss it

I miss walking to other departments rather than calling and having a natter whilst there

and I feel so un appreciated

Don’t get me started on feeling unappreciated I swear my boss/team think I do nothing.

Definitely miss just chatting and socialising, I too am upstairs, hubby in the dining room and rarely talk to anyone at work.

My DP team have a social call set for 4pm today which will be nice. I’m actually dressed in real clothes for once but hair still in a towel from my shower at 8!

Someone I worked with for 22yrs is retiring I haven’t worked with him for a number of year but still saw him about in the office. Another leaves end of April so it’s sad we don’t get the formal goodbyes.

GG I had my appraisal last week and boss who hasn't really spoken to me in months was "we were in a mess and if you hadn't have done what you did we would have been in a bigger mess"
so yes I am appreciated but that has been the only comment in 10 months
I felt so dumped on getting tonnes of cover

18mths ago I would never have thought of early retirement (48 in April) but now it seems ideal

TMW - I'm definitely not one of those. No commute means longer in bed, but still at my desk for 7:30 and away sharp at 3:30 unless I want to accrue some flexi.
GG, I have certainly missed the leaving do's. It's really sad when someone has been with an organisation for years and their last day is a non event.

Reiver - can your daughter do anything to trigger some f2f meetings? Depending on lockdown states, travel etc, find a way to meet and chat to people in real life?

Even if it's only along the lines of 'I really enjoy the work blah blah and I'd really like to come and work here when I qualify, so I want to make sure you remember me' or to trigger some sort of review chat with the mgr?

lol reiver! I am managing to keep eating under control - work was always my trigger for the extras and treats - I do miss my crispy chicken wraps, chips & gravy....

Oh and bacon butties and hash browns - might have to find a reason to go on site one day.

I love the walk across the landing to my desk, PJ's and slippers no make up, hair a mess - bliss.

EP I do think for some line managers they have forgotten what they need to do to make us feel appreciated. My LM is a lovely person we were colleagues and friends before she was moved to this role (she didn't and doesn't want it, she is hands on lawyering, she doesn't get involved in the nitty gritty and I feel so sorry for her, her LM is an absolute tw@t and she is so undermotivated not a good combo)

Spoke to her yesterday to say I'd applied for this other job, I worry me exiting will leave them with a huge hole to fill but then they might just see what does go one this side of the desk.

We are seriously thinking of early retirement but recon we've still got 7yrs to go (51 now)
