Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

@runningronnie beautiful pup! with a puppy I highly recommend the Dogs Trust sounds scary desensitisation tracks - they are free online and you play them at a volume where the puppy is happy and oblivious and it helps normalise those noises for the future. Being a spaniel your pup may be disposed to pretty chill around loud noises but it never hurts. We used the CD with our border collie and although he can be nervy in other contexts he's never been bothered about fireworks or loud noises unlike his siblings so think it was worth doing. It can be done with adult dogs too but you have to start super super quiet if the dog is already worried whereas with a pup you can progress quite quickly to having them loud, as long as there are no signs of concern.

We put the Classic FM programme for dogs on last night for Wanda. I was sceptical about whether there was actually any more merit in having it on rather than Strictly but it meant there was some different noise in the kitchen while the TV was on in the lounge and may have just been another filter level for fireworks noise. Luckily there wasn't nearly as much in the way of fireworks as there was where we used to live.

Albie is not at all happy. He seems to be in pain with stiff movement and a small whimper when climbing onto the sofa. He’s off his food (very unlike him) and looks very sad - he just wants to lie down.

I’m calling the vets as soon as they open. Hoping it’s nothing too serious.
