No problems here - normally next day. We also park up, phone reception who take car details and then the vet comes out to pick up the dog from the car.

Here the only delay has been for annual health checks and jabs.

If there is a possible condition you are concerned about, rather than just a general check up, then keep at them.

We’ve had two late nights in a row. I think Cookie is overtired and won’t settle.

Thanks for the responses re vets. I have had a follow on call from the by theor own admission non medical receptionist who having spoken to the nurses has suggested I send them a video of her walking +/or when I think there are issues. That's easier said than done when you are on your own. Also 'helpfully' suggested that if I were to get her spayed (which they are not doing currently!) then they could x-ray her at the same time. I think I am losing patience and I know it isn't easy for a small practice. Even getting a worming and flea treatment takes ages - having to phone then wait for several days for an appointment slot just to pick it up from the back door.

Arlos just been sick twice. The diarrhoea on fri/sat has stopped though. Had his glands emptied this morning. But eaten a lot of stuff he shouldn't recently. Ripped a hole in his blanket and ate the stuffing when in his pen yesterday. (So this morning I had a really fun time have to pull thread out his backside). I'm hoping he has just thrown up what's left of the fabric. He is still toileting fine so no blockages.

That doesn’t sound good, Shyfire. Is there another practice close by that you could try?

There is a new Vets Now about a mile away and a couple of other smaller practices but I don't know much about them. When I moved away a few years ago I was using a fabulous state of the art vet hospital for Lex where that had umpteen specialists working out of it but they are too far away in current climate.

Vets Now do out of hours for the vets we use. On the one occasion we had to use them they were unbelievably expensive and I think from what I have also heard from others who have used the OOH service somewhat disorganised - but that may of course have been our local practice being disorganised in setting up how the OOH would work with a third party doing it. It was nearly a year ago when they were all trying to work out how they would run their practices in the pandemic so I may be doing Vets Now a disservice (although I believe they are still expensive!)

I hope you manage to find a solution for the vets shyfire.

I need to see if our vets will do the 6 month check up (not sure if they’re doing them or not).

I had a session with the behaviourist today. I got pretty upset as I’m finding it all so hard at the moment. We discussed rehoming as one option as well as the first step of finding some dog sitting overnight care to get some respite. I was finding it really hard today to think of the positives he’d brought me or my life. I know it’s partly how I’m feeling at the moment - totally exhausted.
