Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

We have a new family member. Sprog has bought a French Bulldog puppy for her children. I am a little cynical about who will end up looking after it, so I regard it as her dog not the children's. :-)

I'd like to feel a bit more enthusiastic, and am struggling to find something positive to say about it because they are all excited and happy. Maybe I will feel differently when I've met the dog and felt it's heartbeat, but for now I just see yet another brachycephalic dog, and my heart sinks.

- I'm afraid I couldn't get excited about one either Helegant - the ones in the village look like piglets from a distance and sound awful close-up.

They do seem happy little things though, and Ralph tolerates them (which he doesn't Pugs!) - I hope that all works out well 8luck*

I have to admit I don’t see the attraction of French Bulldogs at all. I listened to a really interesting podcast about the various surgeries they have to have, which all sound pretty awful (although apparently vets are much more experienced at doing them than they used to be - I’m not sure that’s particularly cause for celebration as it just means there are more dogs around who can’t breath properly).

My aunty was just talking about my cousin’s BF’s bulldog today. It has all sorts of health issues and heavy breathing is only the beginning.

Yep, me too, Helegant :-(

We met Polly yesterday. She's a sweet little thing, and the interaction between her and her 'big brother' Cooper is interesting. What Cooper does, Polly wants to do. When he settles to sleep (not that often, being a BC) that's when she settles. But also, at night, when she does a poo, he barks to let them know :-) My brother in law had two Golden retrievers, and the older one used to bark when the puppy needed to go out for a wee.

Apparently they are 'very good with children'. The kids are so excited that they phoned me early this morning before school to ask questions about puppy are :-)

Ralph has a new best friend -

Can you imagine a Great Dane x St Bernard ?

St Bernard sized head and slobber volume, halfway in height between the two, Gt D shape rear end. Absolutely gorgeous, bouncy, playful, slobbery mountain of a dog :) heart
