I asked him what kind: 'A Husky, a Collie and the rest are Jack Russells.' Is it me, or is that a bit of an...unusual combination?

If you've got 13 dogs, I'm not sure what a good combination would be!

Flossie is suffering from beach walk withdrawal symptoms today. She keeps looking out at the back garden (which is a decent size, she's really not deprived) as if it's just not good enough.
I'm a little apprehensive about having Lottie (sister's Lab pup) to stay at the end of September - apparently she's turned into a champion digger - flower beds, veg plots and even lawn have been turned into a re-enactment of trench warfare. We've never had a 'digger' - any tips on dealing with it, other than constant vigilance?

We are progressing better in our obedience class at the moment, I have dispensed with the Dogmatic head collar as he is working well on just an ordinary leather collar and lead - no pulling!
Today for the first time we did a lot of the hour completely off lead with no mishaps; i.e. marauding around the field or instigating any kind of general group civil unrest with the other dogs..... and we got some decent DOWN STAY which a couple of weeks ago I was apparently asking for in an unknown language. Apart from that at home he has been a little shit, barking at me if he doesn't get exactly what he wants at the time he wants it.....

We are getting a lot of attention seeking/demanding barking at home at the moment too D2. Especially complaining at bedtime. The other night I was so convinced that Wanda must be in pain or feeling terribly ill to be making the fuss she was I went back down to the kitchen to be greeted as if I had been away for a week, her tail wagged so much it nearly fell off and I was brought every single prized possession/toy. No indication that she wanted to go outside - I wouldn't have minded but it was nearly 2am..... *sigh*

Vizslas are very vocal. Tuss makes a pathetic whistling sound if he doesn't get what he wants. Yesterday I met a couple with a 13 year boy vizsla. We had a lovely couple of minutes chatting, then their dog let out a soft but meaningful bark to say "come on humans; time to go"

+1 for attention seeking barking. Mostly when I arrive home from work having neglected him for days (hours actually) and we must go for a walk now. We also get pathetic whistling noises in the evening because dinner, training treats and his evening chew just aren't enough.

Rory has been demoted to the 'VIP' dog class for 'special dogs' - because he's totally distracted by everything else going on in his normal class and mainly spends it running round in circles. 'I feel like we're stuck' I said to the instructor. 'Yes' she said, 'I feel you've plateaued. I'd like to try him in a quieter class. Some of the dogs in here are mental.'
