Saved a young bird from Dougal today, but alas not a butterfly with dew on its wings. Had react very fast for the bird, it half stumbled/flew away.

We went to training today; a place where I am continually shown up by my dog; "he got it right, you got it wrong"

Oh D that sounds so familiar from our training days - Michelle and Lisa used to say that far too often (but they were right!)

Its definitely me that needs the lessons... I'm enjoying learning the new skill though. :)

Yep, 99% of the time, if something isn't working it's me and not him. I love watching his little brain working though. And I love it when we do skateboarding, because there's nothing about a dog on a skateboard that isn't funny.

Starting a different training programme has reminded me what a fast learner Ernie is. Me on the other hand....not so quick. I'm glad I have the videos to refer to so I can check I'm doing things right. I am definitely the issue most of the time.

My neighbour has rehomed a 4-month old border collie puppy. She is lovely. He's not had a dog before so is looking for lots of tips. I've been trying not to throw too much information at him but he does need to take it all in. Luckily he's a kind and sensible guy and wants to do the best for her.

I can't stress enough here how heart-meltingly beautiful she is. When we meet in the front garden and I sit on my step, she slides over and climbs into my lap looking happily up at me. She has a really good temperament and I want to run away with her into the sunset!

I had a demoralising interaction with the vet, who asked if I wanted a referral to the nurse behaviourist because my 15 month old dog was a bit excitable and I said I couldn't get near his ears to clean them.

I then had a walk with my 15 month old dog who walked beautifully off lead, checking in with me frequently. He sat beautifully as a cyclist passed and also 2 cars, and completely ignored a field of cows and a field with horses.

On balance hp a perfect dog, just practice the ear thing, start off slowly with just stroking and rewards maybe invent some kind of command or word with nice associations...........
