Oh goodness hp... we never stop learning do we? I'm sure he will recover really quickly but it does stop you feeling guilty!

You are now 'owned' by the neighbours dog. :)

Poor Ernie :-(
Rory quite often pees on objects at his obedience class for no apparent reason (a gym ball, a chair, my leg, one of the instructor's legs...) I really wish he wouldn't. It's embarrassing.

Poor Ernie
Chicken and rice should see him right. Wanda has to have that quite often at the moment for one reason or another..... She likes the chicken but looks at me with utter disgust that it's only rice again.....

Took Rory to scentwork class last night. For the first 45 minutes he declined to search anything, inside or outside. Then he decided he wanted to play after all, and on his last go found the scent in 12 seconds. Bloody dog.

We went to an extra training class last night and Jet celebrated his newly-rediscovered-whatever-it-is by zooming at full speed around the field in between obstacles. He looked like an exercise in 'joy unbounded'... We're back to trying to find that balance between excitement, challenge and calm. Calm? Spaniel? Hmmm.

Last night's thunderstorm saw Jet creep out of his crate and snuggle into my lap with his head between me and the tub-chair wall. His little heart was going very fast until the booms went away, then he calmed down and, as I wrapped his crate in towels and blankets to make it more cave like, he put himself back to bed. So a late night for me, but at least we didn't have to get up to reassure the dog.

We were up half the night reassuring Wanda and trying to persuade her that it's not possible or necessary for dogs to chase away thunderstorms by racing round the garden at 3.30am :-o

After quite a lot of barking at the storm, we let her come upstairs and she brought her bone (which is a bit of a comfort thing for her) and proceeded to chew it very noisily to show her pleasure at being allowed in with us

She eventually settled when we brought her bed upstairs and put it on the landing by the airing cupboard where it is nice and warm. She is going to have to learn the meaning of the phrase 'just this once' even though I know dogs don't understand that concept.....

Obviously as Wanda had a very disturbed night she has spent most of this morning sleeping it off - shame I can't do the same......

Often we have great fun, D2, sometimes I get frustrated about thimgs that it's totally unreasonable to expect a dog to understand...we're working on it (*I'm* working on it).

At one point last night there was some thunder, and Rory woke up and did a massive leap off the bed into the middle of the bedroom floor, but then I didn't hear any more, and he got back on and went back to sleep.
