The funny thing in the Wasp Factory is that I knew there was a twist but, as far as I remember, it completely passes me by, or underwhelmed me.

Surface Detail has quite a fun ending (and another big fan-service twist of course)

McG in the end I read the plot online to see what happened. The Hell sections and the way the women are treated were difficult for me personally. I may have another go sometime if I'm feeling more robust.

I am quite literal (no pun intended) in the way I read and understand things so allegories and plot twists usually pass me by. It also means that I sort of "live" books which is probably why I had to stop reading Surface Detail.
The Culture has seeped into my head and reality, so have found myself wishing or trying to gland calm during stressful events.

Alan Warner I never read the Sopranos (and probably won't now!) I liked the Man Who walked, but had less time for the worms can carry me to heaven. But yes, Morvern Callar is undoubtedly his best.
