Sorry, I’ve been busy all day. Iain Banks is a writer I like, and I’ve read a lot of his books, but there’s none I especially like. I’ve only read one M. book, The Player Of Games, which I enjoyed more than I expected. I have two unfinished Banks, Transition and Stonemouth. I don’t think I’ll finish them. I guess I most enjoyed Complicity, The Business, and Whit.
Funnily enough, I hated Lionel Shriver’s Big Brother to start with, got annoyed with the twist, but ultimately found it stayed with me and kept me thinking. I later read The Mandibles by the same author and thought it was really good.

I'd forgotten about the bridge, yes that was quite good too.

Liebling started We Need To Talk About Kevin after reading and enjoying Big Brother and then threw it aside in annoyance. It's sort of put me off.

That's the only one of hers I've read. Stuff of nightmares. I can understand why Liebling may have thrown it aside. No-one in that book is likeable. I shouted at it more than once

I think that was Liebling's issue with it as well. There was no-one to identify with without being repulsed.

WS & I can definitely agree on The Bridge then. I might give that a reread as something I’m sure I’ll enjoy TBR is growing fast today, picked up an Alan Warner too (The Man Who Walks)
