Dear mole-thing, there is an inherent beauty in being schooled by the master! Boxers talk about good “big-uns” and “little-uns”. Whether I am good or not, this “little-un” was never going to get close to you as a “great big-un”.
I’m glad I got the chance to play you and I’m grateful it gave me a sense of perspective on the game.
Cheers for all the positive comments from everybody.

Roberton - I suspect we will meet very soon as we both work to close that gap!

Bit late to the party but just to add another vote of thanks to DTs for that post.
Speaking as somebody on the second week of an injury enforced break (acute injury caused by a trip/fall rather than a chronic overuse problem), there's much in there for me to ponder. On the one hand, the break is maintaining my position in the 'global top ten' without creating the temptation to do anything that may lead me into attempting to maintain that status 'in action' so it is generally a good thing. On the other, why do I need to take a break in order to compel myself to be sensible? Perhaps I need to set myself some rules/limits too.

I’ve never taken a break and hopefully never will (even though there’s a badge for taking a break). I take whatever the week throws at me and am not fussed by winning streaks. One week the focus may be 1v1, then multiplayer, or maybe both. If I’m injured my opponent has a very easy week, if I’m running off-grid a lot then my opponent maybe wins.

I was bagging some Conquercise zones en route to my mum's today Daddy Shark, well out of my WSW square. Longer of the two runs was a very scenic bit of Highland Perthshire.

Absolutely shattered today I think I may be caught up from increasing miles and other cross training is taking its toll, cold sores appearing and struggling to keep my eyes open so taking a running rest day but be out for a walk later. I suspect I may be a rubbish opponent this week Roberton sorry. I don’t know how you streakers do it!

Great post DTs.
Like SC, I've yet to take a break from the game. I don't necessarily play 'competitively' all the time.

SC/westmoors - great that you are both able to keep the game in its proper context and not let it dictate to you. Some of us, however, clearly allow our competitive instincts too much free rein and need to set rules for ourselves when we find that happening (after we've recognised it).
Part of the challenge, I think, is encapsulated in gg's post - 'I suspect I may be a rubbish opponent this week - sorry.' This sentiment is repeated throughout the thread but why do so many of us feel we should apologise for looking after ourselves rather than providing 'proper' (whatever that means) competition?
