It's over an hour. Even 90 mins I think. It is much longer. But you aren't weakened afterwards (cos you get your blood back!) And can do it monthly, I think. But yeah, it's quite time consuming. G

I was a platelet donor for a while. 60-90 mins in the chair, you can donate as often as every two weeks as most of what they take out gets put straight back in. I used to go every 6-8 weeks.
A big machine draws the blood, spins out the platelets and returns the change, while you wait.
The return phase can feel slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. The only side effects I got were feeling cold and a metallic taste in my mouth. Fit to run the following day but I found a day off in between to be better.

60th blood donation given yesterday evening.
Talking of donation times, I spoke to one family at the tea table, and they have their own "league table" of donation times. Got to say this is a new thing for me.
We did discuss buttock clenching....:)
