Mr Potato Head
Morning all, Just wondering what people listen to while running? I use a combination of music and podcasts but sometimes find music pushes my pace when I dont want it to. Any suggestions or recommendations? I’ve enjoyed tea and trails podcast but always enjoy the second half more, when they interview guests, which is how I discovered fetch everyone. |

Oh, I was trying to tag Mr Potato Head but didnae seem to find you. Let's try again Mr Potato Head I don't often run with music but on ething I've been trying to do is to combine long outings with new music. And guess what, we have a thread for that too ![]() fetcheveryone.com/forum/50-new-albums-in-2024---new-62540/ |

I used to listen to music for every run, then when I did my first ultra in 2016 I just couldn't stand the noise in my ears, so I took my earphones out and have scarecly listened to anything whilst running since. The only exception is that I will sometimes listen to a podcast if i'm run-commuting. An episode of Tom Scott's "Lateral" podcast is normally about the length of my commute so that works nicely. |

I listen to mostly music. Usually spotify playlists. When I am doing a structured run, tempo, intervals etc I listen to podcasts. Diary of a CEO. Rob Brydon. The Running Channel. High Performance and similar.

I never run with music or anything in my ears beyond the birdsong and sound of the waves on the beach (most of my running is on a coastal path or past an RSPB reserve). The footing can be uneven or loose and a sheer drop onto rocks can be nearby so I need all my spatial awareness and not be distracted by a soundtrack in headphones. On the rowing machine it's different though. Always music: either old-time ska or rocksteady tunes for slow steady rows or something a bit more punky and uptempo for the harder stuff. |

Tiny little hairs, wax, eardrums, some fascinating little bones, a complex array of liquid filled tubes.... it's quite interesting in there really.

I like audiobooks for my long runs - epic fantasy makes the time fly. I have bone conduction headphones so I can hear the world around me too!
