Call me a cynic, and this probably belongs on a different thread, but the tone of communications REALLY grinds my gears:

"We can’t wait to see all the fun and excitement this will bring to your events. Thank you for being a vital part of the parkwalk journey, and as always, we appreciate everything you do."

My event, which currently has a roster that is less than half full, does not need parkwalkers right now, or, in fact, ever.

*no problem at all with people walking at parkrun - I did it myself the other week. My problem is with the role.

I know we’ve spoken about this before, and while I see some value in some instances I 100% understand and appreciate your frustrations- and I cannot for the life of me see how they’re going to relaunch it to add “fun and excitement”…

Is an event obliged to offer a parkwalker? The last two vent that I’ve attended as a tourist didn’t have them.

I’d offered to parkwalk at Bolberry Down in September but was asked if I’d mind being tailwalker (which I did) as they were short of volunteers.

The use of the word "journey" like that.... ⬆
Also on the order confirmation and delivery notification on our new dishwasher. "Indesit welcomes your built-in dishwasher order.

Your Journey* starts here and our teams..."<blah blah blah>.

"Delivery Date is Tuesday 5th Mov. Follow the journey at..."<blah blah blah>.

"The journey is now complete for your order. Please take time to leave feedback at...."<blah blah blah>."
*Yes, capitalised.

Not currently obliged to- i think I’ve been to more events without than with, and plenty that don’t have them on the roster. Can’t speak to what the relaunch may involve though

I see. I guess that I’ve missed the “relaunch” spin.

Thank you.

Agree about 'journey'.

I agree that they generally aren't needed and should be a 'as soon as the rest of the roster is filled' role. I also have seen more without than with.

I've seen lots of park walkers, but never seen them do anything. I often wonder what the point is.

We don't encourage park walkers at our event. I don't really think it's a worthy volunteer role. They walk round and get both credits for not really doing anything.
