Thanks Nell. That could be it. Will go look.

[btw - you sent me a link to a podcast on something that wasn't the Apple app and it worked great - well done, I think?]

Monster Talk is “Nellers’ monsters podcast” that Greg mentions. It usually takes a skeptical rational look at cryptozoology but with a fairly sympathetic approach. They very rarely poke fun at, for example, Bigfoot believers. They do look at the evidence and talk to experts (traditional debunking, I guess) but they also look at the psychology of belief, the folklore and history, and the field of their interest spreads out in some surprising directions from there. Huge back catalogue too.

Overcast? It’s what I’m using these days and it’s the best app I’ve found for this. I wish I could remember who on here suggested it so I could thank them!

Overcast - thanks, yes. Worked great on my iPhone.

Getting a lot of podcasts referencing iHeartRadio too.

For people who do podcasts and are of a certain age the Monster Talk bloke, Blake, also does a pod called “In Research Of”. If you remember Leonard Nimoy presenting In Search Of in the 70s this is a show working through the years upsides with a modern skeptical/rational view and seeing how things hold up.

Spoiler alert: often not well!

57.5 Days of Xmas
I love "In Research Of". "Monster Talk" gets a mention from time to time but I've never given it listen.

Blake is a similar age and comes from the same town as my wife so I even get some of his local references.

That’s a unite the coincidence 57.5 Days of Xmas. Wow! I always get the impression he grew up in a pretty small town.

Reminds me of one of my fictional heroes, Will McAvoy:

I grew up in a town outside a town outside Lincoln, Nebraska. My home town was a road. I was a college freshman before I met a Democrat

[it’s the New York Times podcasts of the year - and I hadn’t heard of any of them, which is either very good or very bad depending on how you look at it]
