57.5 Degrees of Pain
Can we circle back to SmartLess, please? It's been recommended all over the shop, so surely someone else has tried it. I'm worried I'm in a minority of one in not liking it. Ordinarily I'd just try and coax Nell into giving it a go but he's up to his backlog in backlogs.
The description does not encourage me to bother subscribing.

112 podcast episodes in the queue.

I’ve just bulk downloaded “understanding the economy” from the bbc. Short episodes and quite informative for the likes of me.

What is this “smartless” thing of which you speak, Greppers?

"SmartLess" with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, & Will Arnett is a podcast that connects and unites people from all walks of life to learn about shared experiences through thoughtful dialogue and organic hilarity. A nice surprise: in each episode of SmartLess, one of the hosts reveals his mystery guest to the other two. What ensues is a genuinely improvised and authentic conversation filled with laughter and newfound knowledge to feed the SmartLess mind.New episodes on Mondays for free.

"SmartLess may not be dumb, but it’s the podcast equivalent of a big glossy summer blockbuster...The appeal is the massive guests - pretty much as big as it gets - plus the undeniable easy, breezy, multimillion-dollar charm of the hosts."

Nope. 3 minutes 55. Never got to the guest. Presenters are just annoying.

I usually love people interview type pods.. and it makes you aware of who is good with the questioning.

Thanks Runners-Eyers. If I read between the lines correctly your reaction is pretty much *identical* to mine.

I've stumbled upon the BBC 'Americast' pod. I like what I've heard.

And has anyone listened to the BBC six-parter about J Edgar Hoover?
