Post war German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer invented the vegetarian (soya) sausage. In fact, he invented it during World War One. But could not patent it in Germany - a meatless sausage! Impossible! So it ended up, still during wartime, being patented in the UK. bbc.co.uk |

1) The usual German word for zoo is Tiergarten 2) The Berlin zoo is located in the part of town called Tiergarten 3) However, those facts are unrelated. 4) The part of Berlin concerned got its name from being a royal hunting park in which animals were kept in order that they could be hunted. I learned 3 & 4 this week. |
