Has anyone tried them? I know they're popular with families with autistic children, but I've heard people find they help anxiety issues as well. I've also seen weighted cotton duvet covers?

I'm toying with the idea of getting one, as I'm finding I fall asleep ok but I'm spending the night rolling around a lot, although I don't think I'm lying awake like I used to.

That sounds interesting. I only have experience of using weighted blankets to help calm students down during the day in school so don’t know much about their nighttime use.

I've not got one but have been considering it. Will be watching with interest.

i do find a heavy duvet is comforting in a way I hadn't expected. Its not specifically a weighted one though.

My eldest daughter has one, the best she ever did. She has bipolar so her anxiety can be very high. She finds it genuinely helpful, she feels secure and sleeps well.

We cannot stand them*.
However, both children have one and love them.
So we suspect it is a bit Marmite like.
What we would say, is the benefits for some can be great, and other than the financial outlay there is no downside to trying it out.

*We have in the past been found on the floor somewhere cold in a sleeping bag, which we guess is not too dissimilar :-)

Also interested. SweetPea is highly anxious and recently diagnosed as autistic. She can't be still when the anxiety hits, and spends a *lot* of time lying/rolling on the floor. I have wondered whether that weight will help calm her- when she was tiny she found a heavy hand on her back comforting.

I've read about making them from duck tape and bags of cheap rice. Wool blankets are good for adding weight without being sweaty.
