Those fast people will themselves move up though, the divisions are a bit messed up due to lots of people restarting at the bottom. So in a few more weeks you'll be more closely matched across the division. Someone's always going to be at the bottom of course :-)

Thank you fetch - it appears that I'm not going up because I'm the slowest by far in all (bar one, I think) distances So if I can improve from a 9.06 mm to 5.18 mm, and from a marathon of 4.33 to a 2.42, then I'll win my division? I won't hold my breath

Yeah, things will be a bit tricky for the next few weeks, because so many people quit and rejoined to get badges. But once that settles, your current times will be good enough for at least five promotions, based on a very quick look :-)

Fetch if you're updating the instructions then maybe a wee context about what people use it for enjoy about it?
Eg

Why is this for me?
Whether you like racing or pushing yourself in training, UTMOST can be a great motivator - improve your best mile time (in last xxx period?) by 10 seconds and gain points to take you into a promotion place... or avoid the dreaded relegation zone!

Works for those who prefer mile and 5km type distances. But equally if you are doing half or marathon distances you can grab points too - especially from those who aren't doing them at all!

Or somesuch. But in your own inimitable style! :-) G

Also maybe refer to the golden and cobweb backed times so people know why they are different.

Any idea why my run from June 4th doesn’t show in my benchmarks when all my others do? Is it because I marked it as a parkrun?

Fizz :-)
The training entry doesn’t include a 5k benchmark. Which is odd because it looks long enough. Logging it as parkrun wouldn’t make any difference.

Does the splits section have a lapped component? I’ve seen where something like a 1.5mi split will mean no 5k split is calculated as it sees it as an anomaly.

It's more likely to be a GPS flake-out somewhere along the route. I'll see if I can check.

In thise case, 1m40s (0.26mi) into the run, cerid (or rather, his GPS signal) travels 21 metres in 1 second!

The benchmark system kicks up a fuss when something like this happens, to make sure that none of us get false times as a result. The London Marathon is a prime example - with all the buildings and tunnels, people fly around the place at breakneck speeds.

Obviously, cerid's overall time for the run is perfectly valid. The signal that jumped to the right suddenly had been veering slowly to the left for the previous couple of data points - but this probably explains why his watch showed the run as slightly longer than expected.

If this happens at an event, there is a way around it for UTMOST purposes. If you add the event to your race list, and put your time in there, UTMOST should pick it up.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Start in the bottom division, and compete over seven different distances against your rivals for weekly promotion!

How It Works
1) The game takes your best times from training and racing over the last 12 months.

2) If you've got the fastest 5k in your division, you get 20 points. If you're second fastest, you get 19 points, etc.

3) Your FIVE best scores are used to calculate your total. So if your scores at each distance are 20,20,20,20,20,10,5 the lowest two are discarded, and your total points would be 100.

4) Promotion and relegation happen every Monday at midday.
