Today though, quite a few places where it's melted and refrozen and turned into an unpredictable ice rink. Could imagine it being pretty difficult to make forward progress in places. Pretty magical views though.
I know it's been hard going under foot, but that's not exactly unexpected, and the actual weather hasn't been too bad. |

I forgot that the nearest actual big hospital and larger town wouldn't be 2 and a half hours drive away there. π |

Just had a run out on the course up through Hebden to Stoodley, and saw the leading three heading down to Callis bridge after their brief pit-stop in HB. They were all moving really well. Saw first lady coming off the Pike, running with another lady who I assume was a friend unless the tracker was out, and she seemed to be in great spirits. Weather was relatively good (happy in base layer and t-shirt) but a lot of snow and ice higher up. It would have been good for the Sprint and the South, but having had so many feet though it a lot of the snow is now like a frozen ploughed field and it would be easy to roll an ankle. I turned around before getting right up to the Pike as the path had been compressed over the week and was pretty much solid ice. I couldn't find my micro-spikes before setting out, and I didn't fancy the decent off the top without them! |

on one of the interviews on youtube apparently in the deep snow it was quite powdery so almost each runner was having to break trail.

Feeling guilty going to sleep when the guys and gals are braving the Pennines. Wishing them all luck in their journeys north.
