@paulcook forgot about fog and mist. That would be a pro for a chest light, but

not enough to tip the balance.

Anyone know what happened with Macca in the Spartathlon? The tracker says "retired" but made it to the last checkpoint before the finish? I'm not sure how to read it...

I would guess that him and his tracker got picked up by the sweeper bus

Given he was doing 30km/h at cp70 it looks like he dropped out somewhere around cp69.

Just quickly going back to the headtorches I’ve just treated myself to one of the new silva ultra headtorches where you have the option of the heavy battery element being in your pack our waist area with a cable … 3 different options of battery usage … not yet tried it but certainly this week looks likely.

Macca posted on the orange site that he had a good experience all things considered…

I used that Silva ultra for the lakeland 50, @Gromit and it was perfect. I had the (big) battery on my head, and it didn't bother me. I took the AA (or is it AAA) battery pack as a just-in-case replacement, but obviously didn't need it. (I also took another headlight as a just in case, in case; but that's just me).

On full beam, it's like daylight, but probably doesn't last long.

I only have the big rechargeable battery and the battery pack. Do you have the smaller rechargeable battery too?
