I refuse to believe it's August. July 33rd for the win.

Question for the swimmers: are fc legs the same as the leg kick you use for diving? (PADI diving, not the Tom Daley kind).

It’s been a few years since I’ve done any diving LindsD but if I remember correctly, a frog kick was advised to be best. Modified breast stroke. Particularly if near the sea bottom to avoid kicking up sand or silt. Could be wrong about that though.

Sorry. My question was the other way around. I can do diving legs (usually with fins) but can never manage fc legs

I’m confused about what you mean by “diving legs” Linds. Is it leg beat you’re talking about? As in 2-beat, 4-beat, 6-beat?

I just kick and if I try to think about kicking everything else fails! I think I kick less rather than more
Maybe that's why I am slow - I'm "lazy" and don't kick hard enough or frequently enough and don't "pull" through the stroke just move my arms without too much effort? But then if I increase my kick or pull I may go faster but my HR is up and I can't sustain it

Legs don't really do much in front crawl, except get in the way if you let them sink too much, iirc.
You want to move them enough to stop drag but no more, and focus on more efficient and effective arms (and regular breathing, of course), I'm fairly sure.
