If its wesuit optional PKath, I'd still go with the wetsuit - unless you're a really competent / confident OW swimmer.

It is very unlikely to be wetsuit optional - really needs extended hot spell to lift water temps, and most venues are still at that warming up phase after that bloody cold April/early-mid May.

If it was, then as Ankh/Sweetie said. You need good swimming technique for the gains in T1 not having to remove wetsuit to exceed gains from the extra buoyancy of the wetsuit, even for shorter races.
