You're braver than me running the 100m and 200m Boo!! Where are you running it? Is it a league for your club? I raced the 1500m and 3000m at the Southern Women's League a couple of weeks ago and, although I didn't race completely flat out, I must say I found the experience of racing on the track difficult.

I've got the Oxon 5000m champs tonight on the track in Banbury and I'm a little worried. I haven't decided whether I'm going to wear my virgin mid-long distance track spikes or just my road racing flats. Pros and cons anyone??

TMW, As Gobi said, I know a few people in Reading who are members of both clubs. Be careful which you chose as your first/second claim though as you won't be allowed to race certain races as a second claim runner (mostly track races, but some XC races too).

Last time I did a Southern League 100m I used it as one of my strides for the 5000m warm up :)

Good luck Rach E I'm still a track novice and much prefer the hills and mountains ;-) just use it for speed training so plod round in my road pumps - racing on the track would never be an option!!

Yes MXHornet, I do. Although I have different spikes for the track (Nike Zoom Waffles for XC and Nike Zoom Eldorets for the track).

Lol MXHornet. I had to "race" the 200m at the last Women's League match for points for the club and it started a minute before the 1500m. I think I did the 200m in a record breaking 44 secs (slower than the speed I ran for the laps for the 1500)...

If you have no problems with spikes for cross country you should be fine on the track, I've used spikes for 10,000m without any problems in the past.

That's great, thanks MX. The plate seems very stiff on the spikes though - I take it it doesn't take much getting used to? My XC spikes were much more flexible on the sole.

In theory you are running that bit faster on the track should further up on the balls of your feet so don't need as much cushioning or flexiblity. Have you tried them during a track session ?
