No.8 ™
I run 5000m and 1500m, would never dream of doing anything shorter.

Train on the track at least one session per week, which is either an interval session or a pace judgement session.

No better way to develop leg speed than on the track.

How about strides No.8? Is track and speed sessions good to lengthen your leg strides.

I think that I am really only good at 100m and 200m, so I might stick with these distances...Well I will be able to tell you next week if I am any good!

Hann - I can't tell you the sense of acheivement I get out of running on the track - I LOVE it. Even when I am the last one round - well I am pretty much always the last one round - I still get a kick out of seeing how well I progress. I find the track a good indicator of how fast you really can push yourself in the last few metres of a race, if you really wanted too.

Shame that you might not be able to find one near you.

Also I find speed sessions on the track easier on my knee than on road. MUCH easier.

yes Han as No. 8 says great fro improving speed - did a cracking sprint finish at the 10k think I can thank the speed work for that?!
we do something different every week and whilst the fells are good for stamina it has slowed me right down with no track work over the winter but picking up again now - well until the shins started hurting:-(
