It's been a lovely, uplifting thread again this year, thanks Sharkie.
My final Newt:
My dad joined us for Easter dinner - slow cooked lamb of course, followed by our traditional Christmas pudding (I always make an extra one for Easter). The roast potatoes and parsnips were perfect and the meat was tender. Phew!
It was warm enough to sit in the garden to eat. I can't remember ever eating Easter dinner in the garden before.
Throughout the day, I've planted the rest of my seedlings in the raised bed so now have:
- radishes well on the way
- spring onions visible
- beetroot have appeared in the last few days
- 6 broccoli seedlings settled
- sprouts - 5 plants rehomed today
- parsnips - not sure if they've germinated yet but they are slow growers
- 2 spaghetti squash healthy plants enjoying the sunshine
- 2 sunflowers which didn't enjoy the potting on process and are a bit limp
- 12 onion sets planted and covered with netting so the birds don't mistake them for nest building material
- the first nasturtium is now showing
- a bundle of calendula/marigolds poking through
I've also finished weeding the flower border so my section of the garden is all sorted and looking grand :)

We have inaugurated the Newt firepit I bought for my BIL :)

He received a new knee earlier this week and was in a bad way but this makes him forget his pain heart
We had a lovely meal cooked on it!

I totally forgot on Friday that as well as riding the full Burma Rd ascent in one go we were entertained by frolicking hares as we sat at the top. I don’t think I’ve seen hares in real life before. They were huge.

My final spring newt, 3 visiting hogs at the same time, only 2 feeders so orderly queueing required :-)

Some excellent newts today - especially GM's Easter Dinner.
Love that artwork AL I am going to visit Morecambe in June, will they still be there then?

Happy birthday Lizzie. And also today thinking of former Fetchie the late Steady Edina who would also have celebrated her birthday today.

I think so BBL - if you head for the Eric Morecambe statue on the Prom, keep going (sea on your left) and they pop up on your right.

About This Thread

Most of you know the score. Much in the bizarre way Easter has come to mean Chocolate, Lent is mainly thought of as an opportunity to Give Up Chocolate. At least until Easter. You know what I mean, 'What are you giving up for Lent?' * I say NO to this. Away with the hair shirts and the deprivation. Let's embrace change and the NEW. Spring is a time of renewal - and restoration.

Soooooo..... you don't have to take up indoor sky diving like my partner's 90 year old mot...
