Hubby still positive and feeling fine. I'm still negative with slight cough lingering on from the non-covid cold daughter brought home from uni. Taking it easy on my runs

I did a wee 2k jog there to test my heart rate & it didn't seemed elevated at all, it was this time last year with my first bout.

Ruining NY seems to becoming an annual event.

I guess my pattern of tests would be consistent with my immune system having pretty much dealt with the problem, but then the easy runs promoted some (mostly dead) virus cells from a bit lower in my lungs/windpipe to the nose/throat area - hence the sudden disappearance of any line, as the virus replication bit had pretty much stopped.

So, I've woken up with the pox today.

Spent the last week at my parents' house, and for the past couple of days mum had the "classic" alpha symptoms, persistent dry cough, loss of sense of taste and smell.

I got home last night with a sore throat.

I then woke up at 3am with a raging thirst, couldn't get back to sleep easily because I felt hot, and when I finally decided to get up, had an RHR of 78!

Did an LFT first thing and the line came up almost instantly.

I'm not going to keep testing, but I'll self isolate until at least the weekend as per advice. Definitely not going I to the office this week.

I'm walking round the house with a mask, keeping windows open, and staying out of whatever room the rest of my family are in, and hoping that will do.

Sorry to hear that DeeGee, I hope it isn't too bad for you. A sore throat was the first symptom for me too (along with a headache, but I get those fairly often anyway).

OH managed to avoid catching it from me, we slept in different rooms, mostly used different bits of the house, had good ventilation and worse masks when in "shared" spaces, and had a good dose of luck!

Thing is, if I've caught it off my mum, the missus and the kids were actually in my parents' house more than I was! Mrs DG did an LFT today and passed with flying colours, though.

My 96 year old Grandpa after so long avoiding now has COVID. I suppose it’s not a big surprise now the home restrictions have gone and numbers are high - a couple of staff and another resident are also positive.

He’s “ok”- not in hospital but not great, and he was already frail so it is inevitably a worry
