With the likelihood that this isn't covid, that means I face another dose before winter is out I guess. Grim.

Well I guess it had to happen at some point.... I've tested positive. After being so careful (being one of Boris's shielders) we've only just started to socialise indoors. Including visiting my husband's parents on the 10th Dec. Both parents tested positive on the 13th. I woke up with a scratchy throat and chest on 24th but tested negative. But today it's worse, and I'm positive.
Is this too long a gap for it to be from the in-laws?
Or do I have to contact everyone I've been in contact with during that time? Thanks for any advice!

You don't *have* to contact anyone, but all those who you've been in contact in the last few days with might appreciate it. It's exceptionally long for it to be direct infection dating to the 10th, I don't think that is plausible. Incubation is normally a couple of days (ish).

Hope it isn't too bad for you.

Very slight chance it went from in laws to husband (poss asymptomatic?) then you with 6-7 days incubation each step but even that sounds a bit long per transmission.

Far more likely you were infected by one of the contacts in that pool of everyone you are thinking of letting know.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thankyou! I'm hoping after 6 vaccines I'll be protected from serious illness. Although I'm not sure if I'm actually still considered clinically vulnerable. I guess I'll know if I'm not contacted by the NHS within 24h?
Mr. Margarita is also positive...

We are both negative now but I seem to have picked up tonsillitis or some other throat issue and am really struggling with swallowing especially at night.

Fed up with it all now

Hubby just tested positive, (it's his birthday). We were just about to leave to go to in-laws and now don't have to.

Just tested positive too. Did one on Christmas Eve and it was negative after that I just presumed a cold.

One of CEV friends had managed to avoid it up until now, but tested positive Christmas morning.

Especially bad timing as as he become a grandfather a couple of weeks ago, so this would have been his first Christmas with his new granddaughter.
