A hillier forest run this morning, complete with nettle stings. Roasting hot was over 20 degrees. Had a wee paddle in the river afterwards was quite refreshing.

The ground round here is so dry, like a tinder box, so a wee fire could easily become much bigger. A few incidents recently of BBQ's being used in the forests, not a good idea. Glad you are safe HS.

Ouch to nettles, and they do linger for a fairly long while. Nice sounding run apart from that Lesley with hills too; looks like you're back into better days again.
16c early this morning but only managed two miles thanks to the "engine" not ticking over as I wanted.

Thanks everyone for your comments and concerns re the New Forest forest fire. What makes matters worse is the scum bags that park in front of the gates, blocking access to emergency vehicles 😡

Sorry to hear about your stinging nettle stings during your forest run this morning Lesley.

Well done Steve for getting out early for your run.

A good interval session this morning with two running friends who will be running in the New Forest Half Marathon with me on 11th September. It comprised 6 x 400 metres with 60 seconds recoveries. The quickest was the 6th in 1.53, average 7.35 minute miling.

I meant to say that I am feeling quite pleased with myself, as I've inputted my parkrun barcode details into my garmin watch. This will mean not having to carry the barcode card.

Oh let me know how you get on with it as when I tried it initially it drained my battery massively so I deleted it but hopefully the bugs have been fixed now.

All being well GG, I'll be parkrunning again on Saturday and trying it out. I'll also though, have my card with me, just in case it doesn't work. My watch battery already needs recharging more often than previously, as I've got several courses, and a variety of interval sessions on it. I hadn't thought that the barcoding function could further drain the battery.

Pics from yesterday. It's a very popular spot by the bridge for a swim in the river.

I am another year older today, another year closer to 40 😳. No run but I did my usual row and core stuff this morning and a wander round the gardens at the local castle. Far too hot for anything much today it's about 30 degrees just now.

Happy birthday Lesley, sounded like a good way to celebrate by wandering round the gardens at the local castle. I'm fascinated by castles, which is I think because when I was about 3 years old, my parents took me to Carisbrooke Castle. They still had donkeys walking on the water wheel, and I can remember running up and down the walls of the moat which of course was empty of water.

Thanks for the lovely pictures.

Happy birthday too LL, that was a fantastic way to celebrate your birthday by climbing up Snowden.
