Thanks. The session was set up as a private Group Ride, but we used it as an iTT. No problem. I’ll just have to try and recreate it in an official race 😀

I’ve noticed when I upload the FIT file from a zwift ride although it’s green (bike ) it’s showing as a run so I have to change or turbo trainer. Any idea why this is ??

I come from a running background, so not fully aware of all the tips/tools around cycling/Zwifting. I’ve got a fairly hilly, aprox 50km Zwift iTT race planned, and was wondering if there is anything that I can plug my FTP into and it’ll give me an estimate for power for a longer race distance. Zwift Power has my 20min stats, but I imagine this race is going to take 75-90mins and I don’t want to go off too hard. It’s an iTT so tactics like drafting etc don’t come into it and I just want to try and go off at a power I think I can maintain.

If it's a flat course so you want steady power, then you can look at your power graph on zwiftpower (or perhaps other sites, I think strava also shows it) and read off the 50 min value, but this is only a record of what you've actually done and not necessarily a good estimate of what you are capable of with a steady effort.

intervals.icu will show a smooth curve that estimates your power curve based on historical data. Assuming you have a strava account with all your data logged.

jda, thanks. I do have intervals.icu, but haven’t raced for more than an hour on Zwift. Here’s my graph and you can see it drops off at about the 1hr mark. The course is 3 laps of Richmond UCI so some climbing (475M total)

Maybe I’m overthinking it and I should go out a bit less than the above 1hr effort from Mon 6th Feb and see how I get on. :)

With climbing involved there's another good site bestbikesplit.com that tells you how hard to pedal on the different gradients (its faster if you go harder up hill but there's a cost to going over ftp...).

Big_G: you need to be a little careful extrapolating from quoted FTP to unpractised longer efforts. Whilst historically the 20min power was considered indicative of 1hr power (and by extension possibly other long durations), more typically it's now considered indicative of TTE (time to exhaustion), which is trainable but not likely to be an hour.

I believe inervals.icu may give you a TTE based on your historical data, so that might be useful if you don't want a really painful end of the ride. If you've never raced that duration before, I expect it's inevitable you'll either get the end in a painful mess, or feeling like you can give more.
