Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

With ice and snow forecast for Saturday took the motorhome out for a thirty mile run on local dual carriageways.

First time that the wheels have turned in months and it’s a relief to report that all appears to be well.

Safely home and plugged back into the mains.

Sounds good, AB1066.

When I move ours after a couple of weeks standing, the brakes seem to need to need a bit of encouragement to unlock; I guess there must be a little bit of rust developing in between times.

A common problem Synge which I was a little concerned about but seem to have dodged that bullet. When it was parked up it was Autumn, sunny and warm so all the brakes and discs would have been dry and I suppose that rain struggles to penetrate that far.

Well, spurred on by this thread I took the van out for a run this morning and would you believe it - brake warning light has come on! Talk about tempting providence :-( I know it can't be brake pad wear because I replaced all the pads and discs about a year ago, I even stripped all the calipers down and replaced the seals. No idea what this could be, a good drive out didn't clear it. Bugger.

Just checked and it was Dec 19 when the brakes were done. Pic of finished job, I did the calipers in black because I'm over-the-top pedantic and have got nowt better to do.

I slept in our motorhome on the drive last night. The constant rain helped with making it feel like I was on holiday in Coniston 😁

We have horizontal sleet-filth this weekend. No way I'm sleeping anywhere other than my indoors bed at the moment. Considering converting the caravan into a boat.

re brakes sticking on when parked long-term: I always leave the hand brake (parking brake) off and the car in gear. I have the benefit of a flat drive though, but you could chock the wheels (and turn the steering inwards) for added security.

I asked Mr GM about our Moho brakes and he’s done that, AC.

I think mine being a van with a bed in it has probably gotten more use that a lot of your plusher vehicles.

Yours will all look better and last longer, I have however now got the banded steels on
