I saw a couple of choughs at Gwithian and I think I've heard their call since then but not lately. Lovely birds.

Yes, Bempton is fabulous - was there around this time last year. DT, Alpine choughs aren't the same as the Welsh/Cornish choughs (as I'm sure you're aware). As a skier I'm very familiar with them, as they hang around outside mountain restaurants and are often very bold. |

@um lovely pics! I lived in Cornwall for 2 years and never saw any- choughs were threatened with extinction back then IIRC Bringing you a meadow full of stork - I bumped into them by accident on my bike ride. I love how they’re becoming a regular feature here. Does anybody know when stork take on their adult plumage? It seems early for the youngsters from this year to look like that already, doesn’t it? |

A friend's Dad went on a bird watching trip and lots of people were getting excited by a heron and he was 'where?' 'By the pond' was the answer he responded: 'you mean the plastic one?'.... |

back in Berkshire now, my boy was playing cricket today vs Cornwall, lots of driving over 2 days! Choughs were on the North Cliffs close to Tehidy North Cliffs car park. |

Last time I went to Paradise Park in Hayle, choughs were part of their free-flying display. Always a good show, along with Archie the bald eagle who sometimes flies out over the estuary -- no doubt alarming the local wading birds down below.
