Just need to report here that I saw a Little Owl sitting in the sunshine last week Friday on my commute. I said hi to the stork on their nest, and lo and behold, there was an owl sitting on a little post pretty close to the road. It didn't flinch when I went past so I had a good look. I love my commute - lots of nature! |

Little owls are cool because they hang about just minding their own business. And where there's one there can be a family. We saw 5 last year.

Odd thing, despite living for 18 years in an area that was supposedly well-known for linnets, I never saw a single one. Went to see a farmer friend who lives down the road, he's made this fantastic hutch/bird feeder and I saw about 20 of them on it today along with GSW, greenfinch, goldies, chaffies, spuggies galore, long tails, blue tits, coal tits - it really was prolific.

oh, good to know, @icemaiden, I’ll keep my eyes peeled! At night I can hear the Tawny Owl very often and very close - he had a family this spring, I’m sure i heard the youngster practice-hooting. Still out of tune and with their voice not yet broken haha! |

A few samples until I get home and sort them properly One thing that surprised me, is how close together they fly Also on the day, quite a few buzzards and sparrowhawks. Along with larks, meadow pipits and stonechats. |

um - by coincidence we are in Cornwall for the weekend and yesterday had a walk along the Coastal Path and came across quite a large group of Chough, maybe 10-12 all feeding together in the fields just off the cliff top. I have seen them in 1s or 2s before but never in a big group like that. Hopefully a good sign!

Pretty sure just saw a red kite. Buzzard sized with a slightly forked tail.

WW - where are you? We're staying in Rosudgeon, the choughs we saw were between Poldhu Cove and Kynance Cove. On the way out and again on the way back. We saw 2 more today, between Porthleven and Poldhu |
