I've heard people speak unkindly of Wells banana bread, but I'm a fan. I'm currently stuck in the Basque country where it's very hard to get a decent beer, although I did stumble across something local and fashionably over-hopped tonight. Mostly I have been drinking the local (natural) cider, which is as dry as a dry thing.

It appears to give you really hairy arms. So all that is left from the Christmas Stash are a couple from Wincle and a couple from the Bollington Brewery. Trying to choose which! |

My last Christmas beer, a Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout. 10%! That should make my evening pass smoothly! |

I was bought a "tour" of London Fields Brewery as a gift. Don't bother, it's a shed under a railway arch. However, I did enjoy their Black Path porter 4.2%. A bit watery in texture but a lovely sweet dark flavour.

I like to drink, and sit in the pub and talk rubbish. But as ales get stronger one becomes incoherent much more quickly. When I was a youngster the beers were much weaker and we could have a decent session with 3.6% beers, stay in the pub and drink for a good while, more profit for the pub ,and more socializing. Is it so important to make beers strong?
