I remember The Arden Arms from a football trip to Stockport some years ago. I was very happy that my train got delayed going back Think I could write a blog/book on great pubs near railway station. Had a couple of very nice weekends recently of combining Parkrun tourism, football and real ale. Destinations so far have been Newcastle and Bristol, have been excellent |

went to my local (ok it's the third nearest pub, but the one I go to the most often... I had a pint (one pint, honest) of Sleepless by Redwillow, Macclesfiled, billed as an American Amber Ale, excellent redwillowbrewery.com |

Been trying a few of Sadler's ales lately. Not bad at all. Of note were the Mud City Stout and the Peaky Blinder.

A pint of Golden Breeze and something from Lingwoods recently consumed. Both pleasant but neither was noteworthy.

^^^ Redwillow ales are pretty good all around. Marble Brewery now in cans. Earl Grey IPA a bit Special Brew, but the Howgate & Kemp NZ IPA is a winner. |

Went to an excellent Micro pub and bottle shop on Saturday, Beer Traders, Marple, 4 cask, 4 keg, I had a couple from a brewer called beer Nouveau. I am beginning smell a rat with some of this craft/gek stuff, OH had a beer that tasted suspiciously like alco-pop...very niceplace to have a drink though. I also think these micropubs are a movement against pubs masquerading as restaurants..... marplebeertraders.com |

My Christmas present to myself has just arrived. It's a limited edition beer glass commemorating 350 years of horse racing at Newmarket.... In fact it probably would have made an ideal gift too for WS given that it combines two of his favourite pastimes ..... perhaps you are already onto it WS? |

Do you know what I've never been to Newmarket, that makes me a bit of a FRAuD, Although, I have an inkling one of my stocking presents is two tickets to the Manchester Winter Beer Festival in January :-). I'm not sure a beer glass would go down well either, I have two packing cases (unpacked) full of commemorative glasses from assorted beer festivals, pubs and trips abroad that I really should do something about... I might list my beers that I bought the other day to get me through the festivities.... |

No i don't think so. There is a tradition of stockings with lots of little presents in like a choccie orange but a half decent surprise....
