I immediately felt awful and sought her out to apologise. She was fine and shortly after announced she was pregnant. I did not know her cicumstances and that could have been a really hurtful throw away comment - lesson learned] My mother has never asked me 'do you never regret not having more children' knowing fully well that I have never been in a situation (i.e. a serious enough relationship) for that to even be an option.
