Plenty don’t.... plus it has been the ‘norm’ or conditioned thing to be saying to people for so long; the ‘conversational chat’ and that is hard to change sometimes. I think it’s only more recently as people are becoming more understanding and open about infertility, life choices etc that people are thinking about what they say rather than the automatic response...(usually exhibited by most over the age of 70 🤣) Saying that, someone who was a very good friend at the time and knew about our journey, plus had had issues conceiving in their relationship too, said to me (we were having a gathering at our house) “Aren’t you pregnant yet?” about three weeks after a miscarriage. One of my biggest things I ponder over is what I should have said. I chose saving their feeling of embarrassment over the effect that the comment had on me. I still don’t think I’d have done any different due to the place, and situation, I was in at the time, but sometimes wish I had. It was the first death-knell in the friendship. They followed it up with a couple of other stonkers over time too.]
